What is Geomatics?

Geomatics is the science of acquiring, storing, managing or manipulating spatial or geographic data. Advanced digital technologies are much more accurate and helpful the older forms of looking at the world such as aerial photography or 2D maps.

For Example, through the use of geomatics tools such as remote sensing and 3D software, two dimensional images can be manipulated into a three- dimensional virtual tours to provide a completly realistic view of a geographic location that can bring light to problem areas or challenges.

What is ISO?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some 160 countries that works to ensure consistency and quality in companies around the world. Through standardization, ISO provides a foundation that when followed enables organizations to optimize their activities, and confidently and efficiently work with other companies around the globe. In 2004, MGS became ISO certified in which we developed, and continue to develop and improve, a set of processes and procedures to enhance the quality of our services and solutions.

MGS utilizes custom templates for projects which include a project implementation schedule, project status report, work instructions, and check lists which are specific to each project.

During each project, all time is kept track through the project implementation schedule and updates are recorded in the project status reports on a time basis defined by the client or project.

Membertou and ISO

In January of 2002 Membertou received official notification of its ISO status, making Membertou the first aboriginal government in the world to become ISO 9001 certified.

Today, through strong leadership from Chief and Council, other senior members of management and adherence to ISO standards, Membertou continues to show the world that they have transparent and consistent management policies.
